CirqueFit Southern Utah Blog: What and Why?

Updated: May 6, 2021

Hello there, my fellow aerialists, dancers, fitness enthusiasts, and perhaps a few just contemplating these ideas... I’m so looking forward to connecting with each of you in the studio and helping you find your passion for aerial dance. I’ve been dancing for just five short years - and I still wouldn’t call myself a “dancer,” it all still feels very new - but for fifteen years I have been a writer. While connecting with people in-person is my favorite thing, I also love to connect through writing. Most of the writing I do as a professional is focused on marketing and technology so one of things I’m very much looking forward to as we launch CirqueFit is taking the opportunity to write about things of the heart.

This blog will have many different components to it. There will be, of course, lots of subject matter around the aerial arts, especially alleviating concerns around who can do it (everyone!), how you have to be (any age!), how fit you have to be (you guessed it...anyone can do it!), etc. We will discuss some more specifics around muscle groups and exercises too, but a lot of the content is going to be more holistic. Life lessons, inspirational stories, details on my own fitness journey (as someone who has never taken a single dance lesson in her life), my insecurities with aerial dance, my battle with anxiety, and more.

It is my hope that, as we dance together, we will also share in the humaneness and realness of life a well; everything from the excitement of learning new moves to the mundane daily experience of washing dishes to the moments of quiet reflection and inner personal work. Aerial dance and fitness is one aspect of life, but it is not the whole. In fact, I would argue that it is a means to achieving peace and balance in life rather than an end in and of itself.

So let’s explore all of this together. I have ideas to share, and I hope you’ll share yours too. Feel free to comment on the posts and bring up your thoughts in class. Hope to see you soon!
